The memories you have of places tend to warp after a few months of getting home from traveling. It feels like only yesterday that we were waking up to views like this on freezing December mornings in Bolzano, Italy where our breath steamed in front o This was taken at easily one of the most stunning campsites we came upon this last winter. However, the next morning we were woken up by cyclone winds, forcing us to flee the headland on a winding track. Talking about it now we just chalk it up to ex Back when our only concern was which winery in Slovenia to visit next! It’s been a very stressful and uncertain 6 weeks but we have a new and exciting (Australian) adventure coming! .

#ljubljana #slovenia #feelslovenia #visitslovenia The Kurentovanje festival was one of the strangest things that we did during our time in Europe. Nothing prepared us for the spectacle of thousands of Slovenians dressed in devil costumes roaming the street, jumping around and drinking late into the We always try to travel during the off-season, and after spending a month in Tuscany in the heart of winter this year we feel pretty validated in that decision. There’s nothing like having a city to yourself, avoiding long lines and paying way Everything about the Alhambra in Granada is big. From the imposing walls, the fortress itself and the massive tourist queues, everything seemed pretty super sized when we visited last year. However, Carlie snapped this shot of a slightly more tranqui Back in early January our biggest worry was finding an open winery in Sicily. Moments of isolation like this one happened everywhere in Sicily, the stupidly beautiful countryside seeming abandoned during the winter. Though our trip was cut in half, w It’s crazy to think about just how much the world has changed in the four short weeks since we took these photos in Prague.
We had an intense month trying to get home, and you can read all about it in the most recent blog posts on our website. Just three weeks ago we were in Berlin. At the time we were feeling alarmed about COVID-19, but still looking at our options for the next 7 months of our trip. In a matter of days, things in Europe intensified and the following weeks were stressfully Hi all. We’re practicing social distancing here in Kent County, Britain

We are both well and following the advice from WHO and local authorities. We decided to get out of Europe today and head back to the UK after the continent basically shut down. So Carlie first visited Prague ten years ago, and kept talking about how beautiful Prague Castle is. I wasn’t sure whether she was exaggerating or not, but definitely ate my words when we visited early one morning before the crowds got there. Imp After five months on the road we reached Prague. We could’ve spent weeks here; slowly exploring each neighborhood, finding new angles of the city, reading in the park, eating amazing food and drinking very cheap Pilsner. Prague was hard to leav I am beyond lucky to be traveling with Carlie - she is ridiculously intelligent, resourceful, independent, and someone that I admire and learn from everyday. International Women’s Day might have occurred a few days back, and is definitely not e Kraków was amazing and definitely worth going 500 km out of our way to visit.

Here is Carlie in northern Slovenia enjoying the sun, far from the miserable rain we got on our drive to the Czech Republic toda Rest assured that Budapest is a stunningly impressive city - even when Pat’s big head gets in the way of an otherwise perfect photo of it.

#budapest #budapesthungary #budapest_hungary #budapestgram #budapestlife #hungary #hungar We definitely liked the ‘Pest’ side of Budapest the most. Amazing architecture like this, heaps of good cafés and bars, and those little electric scooters to zip around on - we were in heaven.

Weird, wild and wooly, we were lucky enough to see the Kurentovanje festival opening parade yesterday. Our ears are still ringing from the thousands of masked ‘kurent’ scaring away winter with their deafening bells. According to them spri
