The Drinking Guide to Bogota
1) BOGOTA BEER COMPANY
The original. Possibly the best. The bar that I visited almost very day in the 2 weeks that I spent in Bogota. Bogota Beer Company have been serving up craft beer here for 15 years, being the original purveyors of craft beer in the country. No visit to Bogota is anywhere near complete without a thorough sampling of the beers on offer here. Want to read more about Bogota? Read my walking guide to city here.

2) CERVECERIA GIGANTE
An utter oasis for beer lovers in a country that seems otherwise dedicated to forgettable lager and pilsener. Cerveceria Gigante borders on the speakeasy, hidden away behind an unremarkable door in a sleepy corner part of town – but if you don’t make time for a visit, your tastebuds will be spanking you. For years to come. The three locally made craft beers are brewed on site, and go down a little too easily. If beer isn’t your thing (sicko), try the homemade sodas, and feed up on the delicious burgers and tapas.

3) PAPAYA GOURMET
Come for a late afternoon coffee, stay for an all night beer assault. Serving up the best locally brewed beer, the owners certainly give tourists a reason to remain in La Candelaria. The prices at Papaya Gourmet are on the steep side, but you couldn’t ask for a more beautiful setting in which to sip on a beer that was made just up the road.

4) DOS CARRERAS
Dos Carreras, is it a pub? Is it it a gallery? Is it a live art space? Is it a music venue? It’s all of those things and more. Run by a Spanish–Colombian couple with an obvious love for great beer. Pouring 10 different local craft beers (including their own brand, Rustica) ranging from IPAs to porters, Dos Carreras is the perhaps the favourite amongst locals for a tasty beer.

5) CERVECERÍA STATUA ROTA
Don’t let the vaguely hipster vibe put you off, there is a very good reason that Statua Rota was the pub of choice in Bogota when I was in Bogota. Located in Chapinero Alto, the pub is the perfect place to enjoy a few pints and the best hamburgers in the city (possibly the continent). Wood-panelled walls, a great soundtrack, and a few trendsetters in the crowd make this a spot worthy of a visit.

6) TAP HOUSE
Tap House has two locations, pouring up beers in stylish Parque 93 and Zona Rosa. A slightly larger pub than the ones above, Tap House has 13 different local craft beers on tap, including beer brewed by some of the bars above. Tap House opts for a slightly “sports bar” vibe, containing a range of TV screens - definitely place to visit when a local football game is on.
