Coffee, Drinks and Food in Granada, Spain
Granada is the type of city that you could spend a few days cruising the alleyways, blithely eating and drinking your way through to a massive hole in your wallet. The prices here are expensive, and many of the recommended haunts are tourist traps; with vastly inflated prices and sub standard fare. However, all is not lost - read on for you guide on where to get the best coffee, tastiest glass of wine, and best value for money feed in Granada.
THE COFFEE
LA FINCA
Calle Colegio Catalino, 3, 18001 Granada
Spain, long known as the inner circle of hell for any specialty coffee lover, seems to be changing it’s ways, if the coffee at La Finca coffee is anything to go by. Something of a vanguard for excellent coffee in Granada, the two locations run by La Finca are both excellent, and serve up some excellent brews that go all to well with the pastries they have on offer. Located centrally, they do excellent work with medium roasted beans – the single origin espresso being a particular standout for me.

THE DRINK
Taberna ST GERMAIN
Calle Postigo Velutti, 4, 18001 Granada, Spain
Tucked away amidst several winding alleyways, Taberna St Germain was easily my favourite bar in Granada, a city in which I sampled more than my fair share of small tapas bars. However, St Germain truly stood out – smally, dingy, and with serviettes that proudly display a caricature of Marcel Proust, this is a bar that wears it’s Francophile leanings boldly, much to my betterment. The wines on offer here, however, are descidedly Spanish, and the list is generous to each Spanish wine growing region – I have to shout out the Malbec from Cuenca though, mouth watering stuff. Notably, the tapas on offer at St. Germain is also some of the best that I’d come upon in my time in Spain.

THE FOOD
Café Bar Casa de Todos
Calle Pan, 2, 18010 Granada
There may be more famous places in town. There may even be tastier options. Hell, this place doesn’t even capture the gorgeous north African, Spanish fusion that Granada is famous for. But, I’m not here to be comprehensive – I’m here to tell you that Casa de Todos will satisfy your hunger, feed you some very tasty sandwiches, and won’t gouge you on the price, unlike every other join in town. We ate several bocadillos here, a completo and an andalucian special – both excellent, both very cheap. The place is everything that you could hope for in a stand up tapas bar – tiny, horseshoe shaped, and obviously popular with the locals. Get there, order a beer, and wait for the best sandwich you’re likely to consume this side of Boxing day.
