Three Unmissable Meals in Ljubljana
BUDGET
Namaste Indian Restaurant
Popular with students, broke travelers and Australian bloggers alike, the centrally located Namaste restaurant can hardly boast traditional Slovene cuisine, but can boast a very, very tasty Biryani. We stopped by Namaste after a few too many wines at Wine Bar Storija up the street, and tucked in to a very good vegetable dosa and the aforementioned Biryani. Both were excellent, and we were surrounded by students tucking into the extremely cheap food. You won’t pay more than 8 euros for a main here. Definitely the best budget ticket in the old town.

lESS CHEAP
Parma Pizza
I could write a book about Parma Pizza. In fact, I’ve already mentioned it in a few posts on this website, but I’m going to note it again. While hardly ‘expensive’ Parma Pizza is that next level up from Namaste, and you’ll be paying around 25 euro for three pizzas here. They are excellent, gooey, thick crusted, and all tell a story; with each pizza named after something in Ljubljana. We both loved the pizza here and can thoroughly recommend this for a truly ‘local’ experience - Parma Pizza has been slinging the best pizza in town since before the fall of Yugoslavia.
Address: Erjavčeva cesta 5, 1000 Ljubljana, Slovenia
Hours: Monday - Friday: 10 am - 9 pm. Saturday: 10 am - 2:30 pm. Sunday: closed.

Splash Out
Gostilnica 5-6 kg
I feel bad putting Gostilnica 5-6 kg in the ‘splash out’ category. We only paid thirty euro for two mains and a few wines. However, it was slightly more expensive than the pizza we had at Parma Pizza, so i guess this counts as our ‘splash out’ meal in Ljubljana. Located up towards Castle Hill, Gostilnica serves up down-home Slovene fare, but done with modern sensibilities and in a space that is both easy on the eyes and all too easy to spend a few hours in. Only a small room, Gostilnica is probably best experienced via booking ahead. If they have anything with venison in it, get that - we had a ragu and goulash with venison - both were startling good, mouthwatering stuff. You won’t leave that much poorer and will have eaten the bets priced meal in town.
